Nashville’s Ca.mp3: Where Collaboration and Community Thrive

Posted by ADAM Audio 0 comments

When the world went virtual during the pandemic, it felt like the natural way to collaborate had suddenly disappeared. For Nashville-based artist and producer, Jack Vinoy, the instant shift to remote sessions left a noticeable gap—a gap he knew needed filling. But what started as a solution to the isolation of the pandemic has evolved into something much bigger: an ongoing, thriving community of musicians and producers coming together to create, collaborate, and grow.

When Jack first got connected in the Nashville music scene, he met most of his collaborators through in-person sessions that allowed him to connect with other musicians, producers, and artists in the area. The energy of working side-by-side with others in a room, sharing ideas and building something from the ground up, is something Jack cherished.”I got invited to a session with fifteen people or so, and for the next year and a half, I spent a lot of time with them—working closely and building strong relationships,” Jack reflects.

But when the pandemic forced everything to go virtual, Jack realized just how much he missed that personal connection. Collaborating over FaceTime or Zoom just couldn’t recreate that same creative spark. Once things started returning to normal, he had an idea: why not bring people back together in person, just like they did before?

The Birth of Ca.mp3

This vision evolved into Ca.mp3, a space where musicians and producers could reconnect in real life and rebuild the creative camaraderie that had been lost. The first songwriting camps Jack organized were simple, grassroots affairs hosted in his own home. —The goal? To strip away the pressures of the traditional music industry and provide a space where artists could create freely and connect without barriers. As interest grew after the first two camps, he began renting out commercial studios to make the sessions open to anyone in the Nashville area and beyond, hoping to help foster creativity and collaboration in an inclusive environment.

“One of the best parts of the camps is seeing people come out of their shells,” says Jack. “It’s amazing to see people who didn’t know each other at the beginning of the day and, by the end of the day, they’ve become friends and are creating music together.”

Beyond Country: Nashville’s Evolving Music Scene

Nashville has long been known as a country music hub, but many don’t realize it’s also a thriving center for hip-hop, R&B, and indie music. Jack saw this firsthand and realized just how much talent was waiting to be uncovered.

“Nashville has so much talent in the hip-hop and R&B scenes.” Jack notes. “It’s really exciting to be here right now. It’s just a matter of time before Nashville will be looked at, on an international scale, in the same way as Atlanta, Chicago, LA, or New York.”

As Nashville continues to evolve as a creative hub, Ca.mp3 has become an essential part of this transformation—helping to connect artists across genres and build a more inclusive, diverse creative community.

Inside A Day At Ca.mp3

Each day at the camp is packed with creative opportunities. The studio is set up with seven workspaces, allowing for many sessions to happen all at once. These open sessions give attendees the chance to collaborate in real-time, bouncing ideas off one another and building tracks from the ground up, often just moments after meeting their new collaborators.

Educational panels are a frequent component at ca.mp3, typically with one each event relating to the music industry; past panelists have included A&Rs, entertainment lawyers, mix engineers, touring musicians, and more. For a bit of fun and friendly competition, ca.mp3 hosts a beat battle where producers face off to showcase their skills and earn bragging rights.

On the final day of the event, attendees get to hear a playback of many of the songs created over the weekend. They’ll vote for their favorite track from ca.mp3, and the musicians behind the winning song will receive prizes. It’s a mix of learning, creating, and pushing each other to be better. Most people walk away from Ca.mp3 having contributed to 5-10 new songs, and having met just as many new friends and collaborators.

Of course, great collaboration requires great sound—and that’s where ADAM Audio comes in. As a trusted partner of Ca.mp3, ADAM Audio has helped elevate the camp experience by providing consistent, high-quality audio equipment to ensure that every track sounds as good as it should.

“Having ADAM Audio speakers in every room is a game-changer,” says Jack. “When you’re collaborating with so many different people, it’s essential to have consistent and accurate sound from room to room. The T8Vs have great coverage of the whole frequency spectrum, and even when you have a really deep 808, they handle it well.”

The next session of Ca.mp3 returns on April 4-6th, 2025 and promises to be bigger than ever. As the camp continues to grow, its core mission remains unchanged: to create a space where artists can collaborate, learn, and build community.
