UK beat maker Lollypop Beatz has exploded onto the production scene with her brash hip-hop and trap productions. An overnight success or a long time in the making? Let’s find out!

“I learnt everything I know through watching tutorials on YouTube,” states UK beatmaker Lollypop Beatz, aka. Lauren, when asked about her humble beginnings. With over 45k Instagram followers, a YouTube channel packed with tutorials, type beats, and a string of top-tier production credits, the young producer has already come a long way since downloading FL Studio for the first time.

With a minimal bedroom setup consisting of a laptop, headphones, MIDI keyboard, audio interface, and ADAM Audio T7V monitors, Lollypop Beatz captivates her online audience with her unassuming, friendly dialogue, and sharp approach to production. “Having studio monitors is what has made my setup actually feel like a proper setup and takes the music creation beyond the isolation of headphones,” she states about her workflow.

Having produced beats for the likes of MAF Teeski, Nafe Smallz, amongst many others, Lollypop Beatz has received praise from some of the industry’s very best, including Chief Keef, who discovered her beats through YouTube. “When I first started making beats, I didn’t know a single person and just reached out and sent beats to artists through Instagram,” the producer says about her beginnings. “I also posted a beat on YouTube almost every day for around three and a half years.”

With her trademark intense dark trap sound, influenced by the likes of Future, and Chief Keef, Lollypop Beatz has collaborated with multiple, leading beat makers, such as Kash Blak, IIInfinite, LifeStyleDidIt, and many others. “It can be hard to feel constantly inspired, that’s why collaborating with other people can be a lot more enjoyable as you can bounce off each other for ideas,” she says about her joint productions. “Music is meant to be a fun, collaborative process.”

More recently, Lollypop Beatz reached 100k subscribers on YouTube. It’s an accomplishment achieved through dedication, diversity, and firm tenacity. “Consistency, determination and self-belief really are the most important things,” she says about the secrets of her success. “Over time you’ll grow, and all the hard work will be worth it. If I can do it from my bedroom with no connections in the industry, you can do it too!”
